Rail Cargo Management

for rail and transportation providers

In the more than 15 years of our company's existence, we have established ourselves in Germany and throughout Europe as one of the leading experts for logistics solutions and technical asset management. Our long-standing customers appreciate the comprehensive nature of our approach: In particular in the rail sector, we provide support with specialised solutions for the computer-aided management of logistics processes and rolling-stock fleets/rail infrastructure [zedas®asset].

Our integrated rail cargo management combines:

  • logistics for on-site traffic
  • logistics for long-haul traffic
  • maintenance of rolling-stock fleets
  • maintenance of rail infrastructure

We are the only company on the market that provides freight haulage companies with a solution that enables a comprehensive optimization of their service processes by closely linking ALL parts of the company with each other. Synergy effects are thus used consistently and uniformly. A few examples of this are provided in the following:

Example A – On-site traffic

The controller is responsible for the planning and execution of shunting and train movements. For this he uses zedas®cargo. All transport services provided can be exactly assigned to the appropriate customer and also invoiced accordingly. At the same time, the rail infrastructure maintenance engineers can better track the loads on the network (track overrun, tonnage) and are therefore able to control and optimize the maintenance strategy accordingly.

Example B - Long-Haul Traffic

For condition monitoring, a mobile data acquisition and diagnostics module for locomotives is incorporated in zedas®cargo. Using this system, status data, operational data and error data can be gathered "straight off the tracks" and then transmitted to and assessed in the control centre. At the same time, this data is also available for the condition monitoring of maintenance and for rule-based triggering of actions (e.g. registering a fault, SMS alarm). Additionally, this data provides the controller with important information on the monitoring of train movements (tracking & tracing). They also serve management in the verification of the life-cycle contracts (maintenance parameters, operating parameters).

Reducing the number of error sources

In team sports, the rate of personal error is often the decisive factor in the game. In companies, it is mostly the interfaces between the various divisions that cause problems and costs. Things become much simpler if all data is channelled into one and the same system. New system requirements can then be covered within a system and the previous work of making adjustments to two systems and creating interfaces through two companies is no longer required. Integration makes the overall system more flexible and changes to the system cheaper.

Due to the modular design of the system and its high scalability, the integrated rail cargo management is ideally suited for use by rail freight operators. It can be introduced in steps.
